We're counting down to the end of Term 3

It’s now the countdown to the end of term 3. Of course, I’m not going to mention that this week was supposed to be performance week and tomorrow would have been Dress Rehearsal.

Let it go, Tanya!

Instead, a little walk around the school this morning showed me just how well the children have settled into the concept of remote learning at school.

There were children in Melissa’s group finishing off their Zoom meeting at the start of the day, Laura and four children were doing a literacy task, Leanne and one of her home students were doing a one-to-one teaching session and others who were present in the room were helped by Sam as they navigated their online learning.

However, for those of you at home, it’s not necessarily as ideal. The littlies can’t focus as well and some parents have decided to opt out from some of the learning organized by the teachers.

Still others see their friends attending school on zoom meetings and become very depressed because they’re not part of it. Some of the older students are really managing well but others can’t get motivated at home.

I wish we weren’t hearing that the delta strain is now turning up in the children, because of course schools would be such a likely place to spread it, if one child picks it up.

Our staff are rapidly becoming double-dosed vaccinated and that will hopefully be a good thing if we start off term 4 back at school.

It would be great if those of you at home could send me some photos of you doing your home learning, either what we’ve set, or what you’ve devised for yourselves. I know we can get photos of the younger ones through SeeSaw, but it would be good to see some of the older children’s faces as well. At least it’s Spring and the weather is beautiful!

Enjoy the sunshine

Tanya 😊
