  • Remote learning, performance helpers, AGM and thanks to Katie

May 31, 2021 by Tanya Heine

Back to remote learning

As our first day of official remote learning started, I was back to my usual 2020 morning – which was sitting on the verandah with my thermometer and a clipboard, waiting for the arrivals.

Today there were 12 arrivals; 6 in the upper primary and 6 also in the lower primary.

That figure will rise by 4 or 5 more students tomorrow, so we have started off with more students at school than we would normally have had last year.

As a result of these numbers, the teachers are trialling a different set-up, which allows all the older students to be in their own rooms, and the littlies are all in Melissa’s room.

We are hoping to get through all the daily activities by lunchtime so that the afternoon can be sport and games with the learning supports while teachers make videos etc and take calls from students at home.

Performance helpers

Costumes – Sets – Musicians

I’ve started discussing this year’s play (which still doesn’t have an official title yet, so I’ll just call it The Play for now).

Some of the costumes will be easy to find, others not so. I would love some parent helpers to help with the costumes and also the sets.

People who usually work with the performance have left the school, and I’m sure there must be some other creative people out there.

Please tell me or Shannon from PnF if you are interested in helping.

You don’t need to be a dressmaker, it can be just to help source costumes and organize lists etc.

You don’t need to be an artist to paint a set either so please let me know.

You probably do have to be some sort of musician to help with the music.

Are there any drummers out there? Bass players? Violinists, Any woodwinds? Guitarists – electric or acoustic (we can mike you up).

Please don’t be shy, it’s fun!

Thank you Katie and family

It was great to see the garden outside the toilet block pruned back and replanted this morning.

Of course, it was the first thing that the chooks discovered when I let them out and I had to use a whole loaf of bread to distract them!

We’ll see if there’s a way we can fence it off at least temporarily so they don’t eat all the new plants.

AGM 2021

This was held on Friday at 4:00 and thank you to those families who did attend as you were needed to make the quorum!

Hopefully, next year can be a face to face AGM.

The new Annual Report will be added to the website soon. There is a separate financial report awaiting signatures at the moment so that will be distributed in the next week or so.

Good luck with your remote learning parents – we’ll see you soon when it’s over.

Tanya 😊
